Lambert Academic Publishing from Germany has just published:
Lady Liberty-Constructing the Jungian Self in Gender Parity and Linguistic Diversity,
Two interdisciplinary papers on iconography, mythology and culture, the implementation of Historical Linguistics in Applied Linguistics emphasizing ICT and movie transcripts.
consider it for a book presentation in your conference
or a reading for your students. Our book is also a business proposal, we can provide part of the fundings and we are searching for other partners and seed capital.
Using ICT to recreate a private tuition environment in a multi-functional classroom, our article presented and published in different international conferences,
suggests these business opportunities:
1. LiveScripts magazine on movie transcripts in original version and translated as reading guides previous to watching the movie, we would start marketing hard-copy magazine with 10.000 copies and would progressively increase the edition.
Approximate budget for designing, printing it out and local distribution:
.............................. .............................. ..... 25.000 Euros/mes
we expect a 100.000 copies sold every month in our country only, while world sales could reach up to 50 million euros.
2. the same magazine on movie transcripts in digital format;
3. Audio-lingual or Audio-visual English course based on movie transcripts
as a self-learning resource or to be implemented on internet by means of Skype or another private network:
a- Primary school ...................... 30 fragments of Walt Disney movies and others.
b- Secondary school .................. 30 fragments
c- Adults course........................ 120 fragments
How does it work?
1. user listens to and repeats dialogue transcript from movie mpg fragment from desk computer, laptop, movile phone, ipad or ipod.
2. user can even tape his own voice for improvement,
3. user practices this simple close dialogue with schoolmate in classroom, or colleague at work, bar, on the street,
4. or in an international network like Skype with open dialogues -that is, multiple-choice questions and answers.
Fifteen minutes of this daily practice for a six-month period (or 70 h) almost equals three school years of multifunctional classes (of 300 h).
Approximate costs: number of fragments x 4 hours work for each x 40 Euros/hour for technician
.............................. .............................. .............. 50.000 Euros/ curs
.............................. .............................. .............. 50.000 Euros/ curs
.............................. .............................. ............. 200.000 Euros/ curs
4. The internationalization of these activities.

PS. LiveScripts Non-Profit Association, G-64961121, has a legal framework to publish a magazine with the transcripts in original version of any DVD or TV premier in any language as a reading guide previous to the projection. LiveScripts can also bring out a pack of magazine/DVD of those titles in public domain. We think it is the most exciting way to foster multilingual skills and multicultural awareness worldwide in the target group of individuals of 12 years old and up with an interest for languages or movies whether high school or college students but also anybody purchasing or renting a DVD.
LiveScripts started a few years ago as a for-profit enterprise, however, negotiations with American agents to obtain a number of copyrights permissions from movie transcripts were expensive, long and risky, which turned down potential investors. Nevertheless, as a Non-profit, we have simply reversed the process: First, we publish the script, then we pay royalties. LiveScripts Mission Statement and application was submitted to the Justice Department of the Generalitat of Catalonia as of February 14, 2008; this department sent us a first communication two months later legalizing our activities and Association which was finally confirmed and registered last August.
The potential market for this kind of product is enormous. Right now, a publication by title, Speak up, represents our only competitor, sells around 50.000 copies in our country of a pack magazine/CD/booklet/DVD for 18 Euros monthly (they can not legally publish complete movie transcripts so that their booklet only shows a selection of lines). By offering complete movie transcripts, we believe we can offer a better and more inexpensive product which could sell up to 100.000 units of magazines or magazine/DVD pack for 1.5 to 6 Euros monthly just in our country; while worldwide sales could be around 50 millions Euros per year.
So far, Margaret Adamic, Contract Manager from Disney Publishing Worldwide and Dominique Templier, Product Manager of Folimage -France- have shown an interest for our product among many others. Our ideal partners have experience and contacts both in the publishing and movie industry at a national and international level -for we are committed to set up an International LiveScripts Association in evey country.
